Tracy Patton Gears Up To Pack A Punch For Charity!
Nov 04, 2024Local powerhouse Tracy Patton is gearing up to make her upcoming charity endeavour a knockout success!
Tracy is set to step into the ring for Boxing NI's Warrior Gloves white-collar boxing event, taking place at The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine, on Friday, November 29 at 7pm. This thrilling night will see 26 dedicated boxers, who’ve trained four nights a week for ten weeks, showcase their skills. For Tracy, the venue is a home away from home—she’s the Operations Manager at The Lodge Hotel!
“I’ve worked at The Lodge for almost nine years,” Tracy shared with **Causeway Coast Women**. “We host a variety of events, from weddings to gala dinners and private parties.” Now, they’re adding the Boxing NI ‘Warrior Gloves’ charity event to the list, raising funds for the NI Children to Lapland Trust. And this time, Tracy will be in the spotlight as one of the fighters.
“This incredible charity grants special children from our community the chance to visit Santa in Lapland, accompanied by a parent and carer,” Tracy explained. “These are children facing life-limiting conditions, awaiting or recovering from life-saving surgery, or sadly, those who are terminally ill. We all know a child like this—whether it’s a family member, a neighbour, or someone we’ve read about—who could benefit from such a magical experience. For some, it may be their final chance to see Santa.”
At 51, Tracy is lacing up her gloves for two heartfelt reasons. “A few years ago, my nephew went on this amazing trip, and now it’s my turn to give back. Plus, I love boxing. I’ve been training with Boxing NI for a few years, and the team there is fantastic.”
The event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of Mervyn Espie, Alan ‘Spike’ Martin, and Rob Humphreys. “These guys put in endless hours, pushing us to be our best,” Tracy said. “It’s a fantastic fitness community to be part of.”
This year, instead of her usual tradition of buying Christmas gifts for children’s charities, Tracy has decided to sponsor herself in the fight. “Every fighter has a sponsor sheet. If you’d like to sponsor me, you can do so at The Lodge Hotel or via my Just Giving link: https://bit.ly/4ealwLI. Every penny raised will go directly to this amazing cause.”
Tickets for the event are available from the boxers or by contacting Boxing NI at [email protected]. “We promise an unforgettable evening,” Tracy enthused. “The atmosphere will be electric, and you’ll walk away with a newfound love for boxing. We’ll also be hosting a raffle, so if any businesses would like to donate a prize, please reach out.”
Join Tracy and the team for a night of excitement, community spirit, and meaningful impact.
